What is Dove-Editage English Editing?
Dove-Editage English Editing is a co-branded offering from Dove Medical Press—a specialist publisher of open access scientific and medical journals—and Editage—a leading STM editing services provider. Our mission is to disseminate scientific research to the largest global audience by allowing researchers to focus on the science without worrying about English expertise. The service is targeted at any researcher wanting to submit an error-free and polished manuscript to any scientific, technical, or medical (STM) journal. It is not for use solely with Dove Medical Press publications.
Why have Dove and Editage launched an English-language editing service?
Authors whose native language is not English are continually faced with the burden of overcoming the English-language barrier to disseminate their research to a global audience. In addition, English-language STM journals are finding it difficult to provide editorial support for the increasing volume of submissions from countries where English is not the first language, leading to out-of-hand rejection for several authors. Dove-Editage English Editing aims to provide high-quality editorial services that help researchers broadcast their scientific research to their target audience.
Who will be my editor?
We attach the utmost importance to subject-matter expertise. Therefore, our editors are broadly categorized into 3 disciplines—medicine and life sciences, physical and engineering, humanities and social sciences. Your manuscript will be assigned to an editor with the best subject-area match.
Will you format manuscripts?
Yes, we format manuscripts as per specific journal guidelines or style manuals under our Premium Editing Service. However, our Standard Editing service does not cover formatting.
Will you edit for research content?
No. Our editors have a scientific background that helps them check for technical accuracy and occasionally provide suggestions for content–related issues. However, they will not take responsibility for the quality of the research content. We expect the authors to be responsible for the science.
Do you have a minimum charge or a flat fee for editing assignments?
No. We believe in charging you only for the words you send us, and nothing else. We do not have any flat fee for a minimum word count or any tiered pricing structure that is prohibitive.
The journal editor of a Dove publication recommended that I use a language service like Dove-Editage Editing to improve my written English. Does this mean that using your editing services will lead to acceptance by the publication?
No. Availing of our editing services does not guarantee acceptance for publication in Dove or any other STM journal. The decisions made by journal editors are completely independent of whether a manuscript has been edited by us.
Do you offer an emergency delivery plan?

Why do I have to login to upload my manuscript?
When you login, you are taken to a secure, encrypted interface that ensures that all your information is safe. This ensures the confidentiality of your personal and manuscript information. Only our staff and you can access this information.
In what format should manuscripts be uploaded?
We accept manuscripts in the most commonly used file formats: Microsoft Word, rich text format (RTF), PDF, and text files. We also accept Tex files at a premium.
Will you send me a quotation before starting on my assignment?
Yes. Before we start working on your assignment, you will know exactly how much it is going to cost you, depending on your document word count and turnaround time.
What forms of payment do you accept?

How do I know when my document is ready?
Based on the deadline you select, you will receive an email notification when your document is ready. You will also receive an email with all information required to help you access your online account with us. Once you login to your account, you can download the edited files from our secure server.
Do I need to attach a reference file and is there any specific format in which these need to be attached?
As a practice, it is better to give your editor as much background information as is possible regarding your research. This ensures that your editor understands all aspects of your research, thereby enabling him to do a better edit of your manuscript. There is no specific format that we prefer for reference files. Note that files attached as reference files are not considered in the word count.
How is my word count calculated?
The word count of any document includes the text, tables, references, and mathematical formulae. Please note that any files attached as a reference are not considered in the word count.
Do you edit parts of a manuscript?
Yes, we edit parts of a manuscript. This could be sections, pages, or paragraphs. You can ask our Client Servicing Manager to exclude certain sections of your document from the word count if you do not want those sections edited.
However, we strongly discourage you to send us parts of a sentence or paragraph for editing as this hampers the quality of the finished edit.
